Peter’s Brothers Construction has been awarded a $9-million contract with the federal government to improve roadways in the Jasper National Park.

Public Works and Government Services Canada published the tender award for the contract just last week, but according to the federal agency’s website, the Penticton-based construction company was awarded the contract on April 27.

Peter’s Bros. had competed in an international one-month invitation to tender from March 20 to April 19 for the contract, in all, worth just under $9.345 million. The project begins at the edge of the park’s border with the Banff National Park and moves northwest along the highway.

According to the federal government’s buy-and-sell website, the work includes paving and safety improvements on 31 kilometres of Highway 93 North in the Jasper National Park.

The federal government has mandated that the project be completed by Oct. 26.
