Target announced the selection of its initial group of Zellers sites and Vernon is the only one in the Okanagan getting the renovation so far.
Village Green Mall is one of 105 locations across the country, 15 in B.C., that is set to become a Target store with an expected opening in 2013. Additional leases that will be selected to become Target stores will occur in the fall. Each selected site is subleased to Zellers and will continue to operate as a Zellers store for some time. Six to nine months prior to opening as Target stores, the majority of stores will be closed for significant remodeling.
Each Target store in Canada will employ approximately 150 to 200 team members, with hiring starting in 2012.
Target will also engage with Zellers associates to make it easy for them to apply for jobs at Target.
