The Okanagan Boys and Girls Club donated bikes to families in the Penticton area with their fundraising effort, Bike Drive for Kids.

Marcia Colville, Investors Group Penticton and supporter of the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club, said she came up with the idea after fondly remembering going for bike rides with her own family when she a child. With an escalating cost of living, she didn’t want any family to go without having those same memories she had of family bike rides.

From March 1 to April 14 they collected gently used and new bikes for kids and their families which were then stored at Skaha Ford. Monetary funds were also donated to the program.

Bike Drive For Kids had 21 bike wishes to fulfill and with the donations accomplished that and still have five leftover for any other families that come forward. Those in need of a bike can contact the Okanagan Boys and Girls Club at 250-493-5616.
