The Cawston Hall turns 100 years old in 2022, and to celebrate there will be a special Spring Fling on June 10.

After taking a hiatus over the last couple years for COVID-19, the Spring Fling will be bringing back three bands for a whole night of entertainment.

“It’s so special to be able to bring people together, and that’s what this fundraiser does more than anything; bring people together to have a good time and celebrate the community,” said Maggie Macdonald, one of the organizers for the fling.

This year, the bands include Goes to 11, Midnight Special and the Organic Humans.

To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Hall, this year’s fling will be all themed around the 20s, specifically the 1920s when it was built.

That means competitions like the Best Flapper, and the entire hall will be decked out like an old speakeasy.

Beyond the three bands and the theme, the fling will also be bringing back the Painted Chair Auction.

The auction sees work from local artists who have focused their talents in the wooded seat and backs of the stored hall chair collection.

Local businesses have also donated items for a raffle fundraiser auction as well, with local wines, art and honey among some of the items that will be up for bidding.

All of the proceeds from the tickets and the auctions go to the maintenance of the hall to keep it running and available for the community to use.

Tickets are $20 for the Spring Fling and always sell out, and tickets can be reserved by contacting the Cawston Community Hall volunteers on the Hall’s Facebook page.

Tickets are also available in person at Westland Insurance in Keremeos and at the Cawston Marketplace.

The show starts at 8 p.m. and the doors open at 7:30 p.m. on June 10.
