Santa is arriving early to the South Okanagan to help the Okanagan Motorcycle Riders Association collect toys and funds for their annual Toy Run taking place Sept. 12.

Due to COVID-19, the toy run will be under new rules with different stations throughout Osoyoos, Oliver, Okanagan Falls, Penticton and Summerland, open at different times.

The event will be a poker run with best and worst hands and hidden score being paid out.

All proceed raised will be in support of the St. Vincent De Paul Society and added to their Christmas hampers for the 2021 holiday season.

Additional donations will be made to other Christmas hamper programs in Summerland, Okanagan Falls, Oliver and Osoyoos.

Since the 1990s, the St. Vincent De Paul Society - a Roman Catholic organization - has been dedicated to helping the less fortunate by handing out Christmas hampers, with over 300 handed out per year in recent years.

The Okanagan Motorcycle Riders Association is a South Okanagan group of motorcycle enthusiasts that promote safety and have been using the toy run as a way to give back to the community for over 30 years.

Registration will open at 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 12 at the Peach at Okanagan Lake in Penticton.

Small groups are encouraged to arrive and register to avoid large gatherings.

All motorcycle enthusiasts are invited to attend the event.
