A dollar donated from every drink sold at Booster Juice on Saturday added up quickly.

A total of 376 drinks were sold, plus tips donated, which raised $558 for local boy Wills Hodgkinson, 7, diagnosed with a rare form of kidney cancer earlier this year.

“It’s quite steady all day and it is great to see the community come out and help Wills out as best they can,” said store manager, Amanda Lysohirka.

“It’s unbelievable the amount of people that are willing to give their spare change, it is priceless.”

When they first operated to try and remove Hodgkinson’s tumour, it was found to have spread to his spleen, pancreas, and into his lungs. Since then, he has been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment in order to reduce the size of the tumour and make it operable.

Holy Cross Elementary School student Sonia Levoe was one of Wills’ supporters who came to the fundraiser Saturday.

“It’s actually been really sad without him not being at the school. We all miss him and are praying that he gets better,” she said.

A fundraiser breakfast held last week at the Cascades Casino Penticton raised $2,168.65 for Wills and his family.

General manager Michael Magnusson said: “Penticton’s generosity continues to inspire and impress.”
