Keremeos’ new disc golf course will be having its official grand opening on Sept. 10, and also celebrating the many volunteers who made the course a reality.

The project, a partnership between the Penticton Disc Golf Club and the Village of Keremeos, was installed into the village’s Pine Park and completed in June.

Putting it all together has been the many volunteers, not only residents of the Similkameen, but disc golf enthusiasts from the South Okanagan eager to share their sport.

Penticton Disc Golf Club member Dion Eden designed the park, and club president Shawn Black assisted with setting the final lines.

Along with them, there were plenty of other volunteers who helped make the park a reality, including installing the baskets on June 16.

The completely free course features nine holes that are fully accessible, and everyone is welcome to come down at any time to give it a try.

To celebrate the official grand opening, there will be a special event from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Sept. 10.

People interested in learning about disc golf are invited to come down to Pine Park and give it a try.

There will also be food, a mini disc competition, a physical activity trailer for the kids and plenty of prizes including a sign-in-to-win competition.

More details about the grand opening are expected ahead of the event.
