Hope can be a powerful force.

That’s what local writer Gary Doi counted on when he and organizers Ivan McLelland and Bob Cade asked local businesses and groups to support the Books for Charity Project.

In the Moment is Doi’s fourth and final book, an anthology of hopeful stories from B.C. and beyond. It was released in September, 2016 and sold at numerous events around the province.

One of the feel-good stories in the book features Okanagan hockey legend Ivan McLelland of the 1955 World Champion Penticton Vees.

“I’m happy to announce that Children’s Wish Foundation will be receiving a donation of $9,000,” said Doi. “For that I can thank all those who purchased copies, attended events or generously signed on as community partners. Special thanks to Ivan McLelland and Bob Cade for devoting so much time and effort rallying support in the local community.”
