The Village of Keremeos will be joining the Lower Similkameen Indian Band in a project to commemorate the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.
At the Oct. 3 meeting, Village council gave their unanimous support to the proposal to put in place an Orange crosswalk in the village, similar to projects that have been done in other communities in B.C. like Chilliwack. The crosswalk will go between Memorial Park and the village offices.

The exact design and costs of the project are still in planning, however it was noted that they aren’t expecting the cost to be more than a couple thousand dollars that could be absorbed by the village’s operating budget.
Cost sharing with the LSIB is also being looked at.
Council was unanimous in their support of the project, which will be done at an unnamed date.
