The KVR Middle School jazz bands, under the direction of Stan Sabourin, had a good showing at this year’s B.C. Interior Jazz Festival and have again come home with awards. The 28 member KVR Jazz Express big band, a mix of grade 7 and 8 students played well and received a bronze rating for their efforts. The six member All Tied Up jazz combo performed very well and won their category and received a gold rating, an invitation to perform at the festival awards ceremony and an invitation to the national competition. Daniel Everton, All Tied Up’s trumpet player won most outstanding junior combo brass soloist award.
