Penticton residents are invited to attend a forum with the artists from this year's Public Sculpture Exhibit, a program that's showcased seven new pieces of work across the city since May.

Artists behind the sculptures — who hail from across B.C. — will be front and centre during a city-hosted "talk and forum" event on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Penticton Art Gallery.

"The event is free to attend and is an opportunity for the community to hear the artists share their inspiration for their sculptures, learn more about their techniques, discuss the importance of accessible art, and ask questions directly to the creators during the meet and greet," the city said in an event announcement.

The Public Sculpture Exhibit has been active since 2016 and features artists from across B.C.

A jury made up of members of Penticton art committees and community representatives review submissions annually, and choose sculptures to display.

Since its inception, a total of 16 sculptures have been permanently kept in the city, including one that pays tribute to the 1955 Penticton Vees world championship team.

This year's pieces — subject to the upcoming forum — can be found along Lakeshore Drive, Front Street and outside Penticton City Hall.
