Naramata residents approve borrowing to buy Centre Beach

Only 10 of the 173 needed responses were received to defeat the alternate approval process

Naramata residents have given the go-ahead for the alternate approval of $900,000 of borrowing to purchase Naramata Beach.

The RDOS requires 10 per cent of electors in the area to send in their opposition to defeat the alternate approval process.

Only 10 responses were sent in, of the required 173 to defeat the process.

With the approval, the RDOS will go forward with borrowing up to $900,000 to purchase Naramata Centre Beach.

The RDOS has a $1.7 million offer on the property, with the NaramataSlow community group having fundraised $1.01 million towards reducing the costs and impact of the purchase on taxpayers.

The results of the process will be discussed at the next RDOS board meeting on Feb. 18.
