New principal for Uplands Elementary School

Penticton elementary school will have a new principal as of Jan. 1, 2018

The Board of Education of School District No. 67 (Okanagan Skaha) announced that Andrea DeVito has been appointed principal of Uplands Elementary School, effective Jan. 1, 2018.

For the past three years, DeVito has been the vice principal at Penticton Secondary School. Before joining the staff at Penticton Secondary School, she was vice principal at Summerland Middle School for five years and principal of School District No. 67 Summer School for two years. Prior to that, DeVito taught Grade 8 to 12 English at Penticton Secondary School for 15 years and also held the position of District Literacy Helping Teacher for three years.

DeVito has a Masters of Education Degree in Administration and Curriculum from the University of Gonzaga and a Bachelor of Education Degree (Secondary) from the University of Victoria.

She succeeds Lisa Edwards who was reassigned as principal of Columbia Elementary School, effective Jan. 1, 2018
