The town of Osoyoos awarded TR Underwood Engineering Ltd. the contract to set up water metering for all of the town’s properties.

The $77,000 contract was selected over three others submitted to the town, beating the Urban Systems bid for $69,250, the McElhanney Ltd. bid for $79,745, and the UtiliWorks Consulting LLC bid for $117,232.

The town had estimated a budget of $125,000 for the planning and implementation of the water metering. TR Underwood’s bid was selected over the others in part because it included a $10,000 buffer in their $77,000 bid.

Because the bid was not the lowest, it required the council to grant the town approval to proceed. Council voted five to two in favour of accepting the bid, with councillors Jim King and C J Rhodes opposed.
