The interior of Famous Players new Capitol Theatre at 333 Main St. built in 1936. At the time it boasted “The finest of its size in Canada”. 760 luxury seats, ticket price was 40 cents for orchestra seats, 30 cents for balcony. The first film shown was “Private Number”.

Where Mike's Pawnbrokers is now located on Penticton's Main Street was once the Capitol Theatre.

In this photo from 1936, Famous Players shows off the inside of its new theatre.

The theatre was built in 1936 and at the time was claimed to be “The finest of its size in Canad."

It had 760 luxury seats with a ticket price was 40 cents for orchestra seats and 30 cents for balcony.

The first film shown was “Private Number”, starring Loretta Young, Robert Taylor and Basil Rathbone.
