It has not been the best start to the year for the Penticton and District Community Arts Council, with a flood and now vandalism at Leir House.
“I guess it was bound to happen to us too? Such a shame and to a historical building,” remarked Bethany Handfield, the PDCAC administrator.
One of the gallery doors had its glass smashed in and graffiti spray-painted on the porch and wall.

The PDCAC is asking for donations and support from the community to help cover the costs of the repairs, as the damages would otherwise come out of the money used for the council’s other works.
“If you can donate to help us with repairs that would be greatly appreciated,” said Handfield. “As every dollar we have to spend on this is less towards our community arts programming.”
