Penticton Beer Run grows in second year

It’s a great way to burn off those beer calories.

Over 300 participants turned out for the second annual Penticton Beer Run Saturday, to the delight of Mike Hill of Hoodoo Adventures, who sponsored the event. That’s more than double the 130 participants in the inaugural run last year.

“The event is really growing, it’s great,” said Hill.

The 10-kilometre course takes participants from brewery to brewery along Penticton’s Ale Trail, finishing up at the Kettle Valley Station Pub garden area where Saskatchewan-based country band Aces Wyld played in the courtyard from noon to 3 p.m.

The Beer Run is a fundraiser, with 100 per cent of the net proceeds donated to the local not-for-profit Youth Outdoor Recreation Society, a subsidy program that funds outdoor recreation opportunities for youth in the Okanagan.

“We have so much beautiful nature around here in the Okanagan, we want these kids to experience it. The Youth Outdoor Recreation society removes the barriers and helps them get into the outside,” said Hill.
