Penticton’s Balance School of Performing Arts is holding a Christmas open house with singing and dancing on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at Orchard House.

“It’s a great opportunity to invite the community to show them what’s going on with our youth and the arts,” said Balance School owner Ashlie Atkinson.

The students who range in age from six to 12 years old will be performing and caroling some well-known Christmas songs.

“It will be pretty Christmasy,” said Atkinson. “It’s also an opportunity for our performers to get in front of an audience which hasn’t really happened in the past two years.”

The open house will also be a fundraiser for the dancers’ trip to New York in February.

While in the Big Apple, the Penticton troupe will get the chance to take classes with Broadway professionals, take in some Broadway shows and visit the Statue of Liberty and 9-11 site.

“Our theme at Balance is we dance and act because nowadays dancers need to be able to act as well,” she said.

Orchard House is located at 157 Orchard Avenue.
