100 years ago, a Curtis JN 4 aircraft landed in Penticton.

It was the first aircraft to land in the city and attracted a large crowd of onlookers. The plane was piloted by Captain E.C. Hoy and Captain G. Dixon, who were in Penticton to promote a Trans-Rocky air route from Vancouver to Calgary.

The aircraft landed at the recreation field, where the Community Centre now stands.
