Young students at Outma Sqilx’w Cultural School get information about the Vancouver Aquarium AquaVan program from coordinator Tobi Reid. The traveling shows features a number of live marine species and is designed to teach students about the wonders of the deep.

The Vancouver Aquarium’s AquaVan, which delivers aquatic programs to communities in B.C. and Alberta, was touring Penticton this week.

The van brings artifacts, activities and live marine invertebrates such as sea stars and anemones to schools and festivals on its trips.

AquaVan visits schools and communities to provide youth an up-close and personal encounter with aquatic life. Staff educators provide engaging and entertaining activities for students that encourage the discovery of the connection between animals, environments and themselves.

AquaVan went to Parkway Elementary, Queen’s Park Elementary and Outma Sqilx'w Cultural School.
