An annual fundraiser in support of children dealing with a medical, physical, or traumatic crisis recently raised more than $10,000 in Penticton.
Penticton RCMP took part in the Cops for Kids' "Jail & Bail fundraiser" inside Cherry Lane Shopping Centre on May 29.
Event participants were “locked up” and challenged to raise bail through donations from friends and family. Chief Justice of Shenanigans Cary Schneiderat, meanwhile, "handed down sentences to those brought before him in kangaroo court," police said.
“We are incredibly grateful to the people of Penticton for stepping up to help kids in their own community,” said spokesperson Sgt. Laurie Rock of the Penticton RCMP. “Every dollar raised will stay right here in the region, making a real difference for families who need it most.”
Cops for Kids — a charitable foundation that supports children across B.C. — thanked the Penticton RCMP, community volunteers, and donors for helping make the event a success.
