A Penticton educator is a finalist in the 2022 Premier’s Awards for Excellence in Education.
Sandra Richardson, vice-principal at Penticton Secondary School, is one of 34 educational professionals in the awards nominations.
A total of 10 awards will be given with two for teachers, three for school leaders, three for district leaders and two for support staff.

Richardson, who has taught at schools in Penticton and Summerland, is one of three nominees in the community engagement category, along with Tom Craik from Vernon and Alisha Parashar from Vancouver.
The awards were launched in 2018 to honour public, independent and First Nations teachers, principals, vice-principals, school and district leaders and support staff.
During the nomination period from Oct. 5 to March 31, 113 nominations were received from around the province.
The award winners will be announced at a ceremony at Government House in Victoria on Oct. 14. Each winner will receive a $3,000 personal bursary for professional bursary, a $2,000 contribution to their school for professional learning and a commemorative trophy.
