In this circa 1920’s photo, two men are working at tobacco cultivation at the Canyon Ranch, in the upper Carmi Avenue area. Unfortunately for them, the tobacco venture didn’t work.

Penticton was once the site of an attempt to grow tobacco.

In this photo from the 1920s, taken by an unknown photographer, shows Canyon Ranch where the attempt was made.

The venture, as time has shown, did not work out.
