People lined up down the block to be first into the Care Closet thrift store in downtown Penticton on Monday (March 22) morning.
The non-profit thrift store, at 574 Main Street, did a spring change over of the store and inventory over the weekend and thrifters wanted to be the first to see what’s new.
The Care Closet also provided a a sneak peek of what’s in store on their Facebook page, showing a rare pink Pyrex set that will be quick to go.
Shopping time will be limited to 20 minutes per customer to ensure everyone gets a chance in the store. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Masks are mandatory, and social distancing applies.
The Care Closet Thrift Store re-opened in June 2020 after a two and a half month closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Proceeds from Care Closet purchases support several local organization and charities including the South Okanagan Similkameen Medical Foundation, the Hospital Auxiliary and the Penticton and District Hospice Society.
This rare pink Pyrex will be a hot ticket item for the spring change over at the Care Closet thrift store. (Facebook) |
