Activities for the whole family are happening on Sunday to celebrate Father’s Day.

An afternoon of pirate-themed fun and mayhem is taking place at the SS Sicamous from 1 to 3 p.m.

Jump aboard the ship, play in the park or hang out on the beach. There will be a range of games and activities to enjoy including a bouncy castle, crafts, digging for treasure, a pirate dress up photo booth, racing rubber ducks and a scavenger hunt inside the SS Sicamous.

Dressing up as a pirate is optional, but organizers said it will make the day more fun. As well there will be some water activities including a slip and slide, so it is recommended to bring a towel. Hotdogs and snacks will be for sale by the Oktoberfest Society to raise funds for the SS Sicamous Society. The Sicamous will remain open to the public from noon to 3 p.m. during the event for those who do not want to take part in the festival but want to tour the museum — usual admission prices will apply.

Dads will get to try out the Big Baller Challenge at LocoLanding, the newest attraction they have on site.

The event is charging $5 for children (free for mom, dad, caregivers and grandparents) with funds raised going to the SS Sicamous Society for repairs and restorations on the ships in Heritage Park.

Discovery House is also hosting a Father’s Day event on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The streets will be closed for road hockey and they ask people wanting to play to bring a stick and join in. There will also be a dunk tank, facepainting, table tennis and more. A by-donation barbecue will be set up with hamburgers and hotdogs with funds going to support Discovery House, 397 Wade Ave. W., to help men in recovery from drug and alcohol addiction.
