Missing Santa this year?

Penticton’s Cannery Brewing has the next best thing — life-sized replicas of Santa and Mrs. Claus.

If you’re looking for a place to take your kids and family for Santa photos, head over to Cannery Brewing’s Santa and Mrs. Claus photo station set up in their brewhouse, you might even be able to get a beer out of the trip too.

Kids and families can sit with life-sized replicas of Santa and Mrs. Claus, make their wishes to Santa, and bring their own cameras to take photos or selfies.

Ian Dyck, co-owner of Cannery Brewing, said he’s excited to be able to offer a fun, safe alternative to photos with Santa in a challenging year.

“While so many things are so different this year, one thing that remains the same is that kids want to visit with Santa. We put on our collective thinking caps to figure out how to make this happen and to be able to have Santa photos in a safe and special way,” Dyck said.

Local photographer Chris Stenberg donated his expertise to capture photos of Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Local print shop Sherwood Signs turned the photos into life-sized replicas.

Cannery Brewing is at 198 Ellis Street in Penticton. There is no charge for Santa visits and photos, although cash donations are being collected for the South Okanagan Children’s Charity.

The South Okanagan Children’s Charity has assisted families of children with health problems for over 45 years. They provide assistance to families with children who have medical needs and extra medical expenses. One hundred per cent of the money collected is used to help local children and their families.

“You can always count on the team at Cannery Brewing to think outside the box and come up with solutions, especially during these uncertain times,” said Jasmine Aantjes, director of the South Okanagan Children’s Charity.

The Santa and Mrs. Claus photo station is available during opening hours at Cannery Brewing until Christmas Eve. They are open Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. - 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. They will close on Christmas Eve at 5 p.m.

Guests must visit Santa within their own household bubble and masks are required when entering and walking through the brewery.
