Penticton is gearing up to reign in the most wonderful time of the year.

The city's annual Magic on Main Street event returns on Sunday, Dec. 1, with a parade and light-up ceremony set to headline the festivities.

Featuring dozens of holiday-themed floats, the beloved Santa Claus Parade will kick off at 4:45 p.m. It will begin at White Avenue, before heading north along Main Street toward Lakeshore Drive. Groups have until Nov 22, to enter a float into the parade.

An official light-up reveal at Gyro Park will follow at 6 p.m., with live music and photos with Santa.

As the event inches closer, city officials say they are seeking volunteers to help during the parade.

"Duties include barricade intersection control, marshalling assistance, and parade route support," the city says in a press release. People interested in volunteering at the event can email volunteer@penticton.ca.

In conjunction with BC Transit, the city is also offering a free "Park N' Ride" shuttle service for the event. Transportation from Cherry Lane Shopping Centre will operate on a continuous loop every 15 minutes, from 4 to 7:20 p.m.

Magic on Main Street celebrated its inaugural event in Penticton last year.
