The Apex Fire Brigade received a $5,000 donation from China Creek.
Marion Millar, the president of the Princeton-based internet provider, made the donation after coming across an article on how the volunteer brigade was looking for support.
Over the last six months, the Apex Fire Brigade has been hard at work overhauling its training and equipment.
With the support of the community, they have raised over $20,000 since July, which has gone towards medical gear, extrication tools, an expansion to the barn in the Apex Village to house their fire engine, and more.
The fire engine, hoses, and the barn were all donated to the brigade, as well as materials for the barn’s addition.
Old and new members of the brigade have spent hundreds of hours a month training and doing volunteer work, to ensure that they are certified in wildfire suppression, medical response, and structural firefighting, to provide the public with the best services they can provide.
