The Summerland Drop In Centre will celebrate a milestone next month with its Golden Anniversary Banquet.

The event will be held Saturday, Sept. 28 beginning at 5:30 p.m. and includes music by Wendy Rodocker.

Sean McCarthy, president of the Summerland Drop In Centre, said while the event is a celebration of 50 years of the facility, it is also intended to showcase what is available.

“This dinner and cabaret is a show piece,” he said.

The centre has held other events, including a recent concert by the South Okanagan Big Band.

In the past, the centre was known as the Summerland Senior Citizens Drop-In Centre, but the name was changed recently in an effort to promote the space as a facility for the entire community.

Tickets for the dinner and concert are available at the centre Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or by phoning 250-494-9377.

Admission will be limited to the first 100 people.
