Summerland Unisus students participate in tree planting

Students at private school join in Earth Day activity in Summerland

Grade 8 to 11 students at Unisus School in Summerland participated in an Earth Day tree planting ceremony on Friday, April 23.

School officials described the event as an exciting service learning opportunity for students, to connect with the community and to do work that benefits the local ecosystem.

The school has a focus on outdoor education and care for the planet which begins at the Early Childhood Learning Centre and continues through the International Baccalaureate school.

Earth Day was first celebrated April 22, 1970 and today encompasses more than one billion people in 193 countries around the world.
