Remembrance banners are on display in downtown Summerland.
The banner project is a partnership including the municipality of Summerland, the Summerland branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Summerland Museum and the Okanagan Historical Society.

Banners displayed around the community feature photographs of fallen soldiers from the two world wars in the 20th century. When a photograph could not be found, a silhouette is used in place.
In many cases, the location of the banner is based on where the person or family lived, worked or played.
While there are photographs for all of Summerland’s fallen soldiers from the Second World War, photographs are not available for all fallen soldiers from the First World War.
The first banners were displayed in early November 2012, and more banners have been added in the following years.
This year, no new banners have been added, but the Summerland Legion has had three of the existing banners in place.
In addition to the banners, the 2007 book, Summerland Remembers, by David Gregory and Sherril Foster, features information on many of Summerland’s fallen soldiers.
The Summerland Legion will hold its Remembrance Day ceremony in Memorial Park on Friday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. Following the ceremony, a soup and bun lunch will be held at the Legion for all ceremony participants.
