Swans have flown into Penticton for a visit.
Robert Emms spotted two swans in the ponds at Warren Avenue West on Wednesday.
“I have seen swans on Skaha more near Okanagan Falls but never here in Penticton,” said Emms.
The swans joined some Canada geese on the city waterways that are near downtown Penticton.
These impressive looking birds that have recently started calling Okanagan Lake home are trumpeter swans which are native to North America.
It isn’t really known where they came from but at least two dozen of them have been calling the lake home, along Highway 97 between Penticton and Trout Creek, Summerland.
They are usually eating and swimming near the edges of the highway.
Trumpeter swans have a wing span of three metres and are one of the largest waterfowl.
