Come and see what dragon boating is all about for free.

The Osoyoos Lake Paddling Club will be hosting an open house on April 30 at 11 a.m. at their home base Safari Beach Resort, 5815 Oleander Drive in Osoyoos.

Come out and give dragon boating a try. If you like it and want to continue, you can paddle at no charge up to the May long weekend. After that, they ask that you make a commitment to join the club. Fees are $150 for the season plus a one time $25 fee for new members liability insurance coverage. They provide the boat, paddles and the PFD.

The Penticton Dragon Boat Festival is back Sept. 10 and 11 and routinely brings 80 teams and around 2,000 athletes to Skaha Lake for two days of competition, not to mention the crowds of watchers for the second largest festival in B.C.

Ahead of the festival in September, the local teams will also be training to participate in the Okanagan Super Sprints on June 10 and 11.
