If you need to have some documents shredded, now is your chance to get this task off your list and give back to the community while you’re at it. The Penticton Valley First is hosting its annual Shred It and Forget It event on June 2, and will shred any and all confidential or important documents for either a food or cash donation to the Salvation Army Food Bank. Help protect your identity from being stolen, and give back to the community on June 15.

Valley First Credit Union is bringing back their Shred It and Forget It event from 9 a.m. until 1: p.m. Bring a non-perishable food item to donate to their Feed the Valley program, or a cash donation, and they will shred any and all confidential or important documents that you need gone.

The event takes place on Martin Street, in the parking lot behind the Penticton City Hall. In addition to Valley First, the Downtown Penticton Association, The Penticton & Wine Country Chamber of Commerce, and Iron Mountain also support the event.

Raising food, funds and awareness for local food banks is one of the company’s signature community causes. Last year the Feed the Valley program helped raise over $1,500 for the Penticton Salvation Army Food Bank, in addition to the food that was donated.
