The City of Penticton will acknowledge the Annual Day of Mourning on April 28 at 11 a.m., with a public gathering at the memorial tree in front of McLaren Park Arena.

Mayor Dan Aston will read the city’s proclamation and members of the public wishing to come forward will have an opportunity to speak, followed by a moment of silence.

Last year, 143 workers in British Columbia lost their lives as a result of work-related injury, illness or disease.

Annually on April 28, communities throughout B.C. remember lost co-workers, friends and family while reflecting on a shared commitment to workplace safety.
