The Half Corked Marathon is back and organizers could not be more excited about the Saturday, April 23 event.

Tickets to the popular run and sip through the vineyards go on sale today, Wednesday, March 23 with many loyal half-corkers buying in.

“Our region is so excited and ready to welcome visitors back with open arms,” says Jennifer Busmann, executive director of Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country. “With restrictions easing, we are thrilled to be able to offer additional tickets.”

The route has been updated this year to include more winery stations than ever before, both along the Golden Mile Bench and Black Sage Road so that participants can sip and savour wines from the region as they run through the vines and along the Okanagan River.

The route has actually grown from 18 to 19 km this year with 20 wineries or winery stations and then 11 at the finish line party, said organizers.

Creative costumes are always encouraged and prizes will be awarded for the best individual costume, best team and best skit. Participants will complete the route at the Oliver Community Park where the Party at the Finish Line will include picnic packs, more wine tasting and live entertainment. New this year, transportation will be provided to the start line from Penticton as well as Oliver and Osoyoos, included for all guests in the ticket price, opening up more accommodation options for participants.

Limited spots are still available at the popular pre-race wine dinner, Primavera ($120 pp), taking place at Oliver Community Park on Friday, April 22. Vancouver’s Paella Guys will prepare a feast for guests paired with wines from vineyards close by.

After the run on Saturday, Kismet Estate Winery will host a Dinner on the Farm ($150 pp), pairing their team’s tasty East Indian cuisine with Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country wines.

For the last two years, Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country has not been able to host the marathon because of COVID restrictions. They did do a hybrid version of Half Corked that included virtual wine talks with chefs and winemakers.
