The 75th edition of the Penticton Peach Festival is well underway but there’s still so much more for residents and visitors alike to enjoy until Sunday night.
Tribute bands take over Okanagan Lake Park (Aug. 5)
Two of North America’s most beloved tribute bands will be in downtown Penticton on Friday night to honour The Eagles and Queen, respectively.
Eagles Eyes kick off their set at 7:30 p.m., with Simply Queen following suit at 9:30 p.m.
Music at the park wraps up at 11 p.m.
Return of the Grand Parade (Aug. 6)
Floats from across B.C. and Washington State will be at Main Street and Eckhardt Avenue for the start of the Peach Festival’s Grand Parade at 10 a.m.
The parade is expected to last two hours, with the local Salvation Army expected to pick up donations during the event.
When asked whether he would participate in the parade, Penticton mayor John Vassilaki didn’t hesitate to show his support.
“I’m always the first guy on the list, so I’ll be at the front,” he said.

JCI Penticton’s first-ever Beach Volleyball Tournament (Aug. 5 to 6)
A 24-team beach volleyball tournament is coming to Skaha Beach on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Junior Chamber Internation (JCI) Penticton is also using the inaugural tournament as a two-day fundraiser.
Games will be broken up into two divisions: competitive and fun.

The West Coast Lumberjacks (Aug. 5 to 7)
Current and former Canadian champions are taking their talents to Okanagan Lake Park all weekend long.
The lumberjacks will partake in a variety of different games and daredevil displays, starting at 2:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. on Friday, 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Fan favourites to wrap up two nights of music (Aug. 6 to 7)
Canadian rockers Glass Tiger and British piano man Ben Waters take the Okanagan Lake Park stage on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
Glass Tiger’s set on Saturday begins at 9:30 p.m., while Waters will act as the Peach Fest headliner to wrap up the event at 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Waters, a local favourite, has appeared at the festival before and is even bringing his son along for the performance.
