Letter: Dignity of the person and community

Poverty or homeless does not give license to lessen the dignity of one’s person

Poverty or homeless does not give license to lessen the dignity of one’s person or avoid ones personal responsibility.

For a society to do so is aiding and abetting a tragic wrong and shame, rather than finding a solution that begins with the individual themselves who often don’t recognize their own talent, potential or helps available.

Sitting or sleeping on the sidewalk is endearing to no one, but can develop hemorrhoids or other illnesses straining the already overtaxed health system.

An untapped avenue for solutions, especially social, is the vibrant think tank, the minds of our local school students.
