Buzz Brass combines music and theatre to tell the history of music through the ages. The ensemble will play at Cleland Theatre in Penticton on Jan. 15.

Quebec-based ensemble Buzz Brass will be the next group performing as part of the Children’s Showcase series, the third of four performances in their 2011-12 season.

Buzz Brass is an energetic and talented quintet (two trumpets, a horn, a trombone and a bass trombone) working with an actor to create a unique “musitheatrical” experience. Their award-winning show, The History of Music, will take the audience on a journey from prehistory to modern times that is dramatic and hilarious. Music tells the story; music is the story in this show.

The Children’s Showcase Society is a non-profit organization which has been dedicated to making quality live performances accessible to Okanagan families for more than 25 years.

The Buzz Brass show, suitable for ages three and up, takes place on Jan. 15 at 2 p.m. in Cleland Theatre. Tickets are $12 at the door and are also on sale at the Tumbleweed Gallery in Penticton. For more information about this show – and the rest of the season – visit www.childrensshowcase.org or call Mary Rippin at 250-492-6222.
