Renowned as one of the greatest choral works of all time, the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra brings Handel’s Messiah to the Cleland Theatre in celebration of the Christmas season.
Four accomplished soloists: Stephanie Nakagawa, soprano; Lynne McMurtry, mezzo-soprano; Jason Ragan, tenor and Gordon Bintner, bass; as well as the OSO symphony and chorus will fill the theatre on Dec. 19 with the contemplative and glorious sounds of this traditional favourite.
“The magic of the chorus working together with our guest artists and our symphony musicians will be a performance that will make the audience want to stand up and sing,” said Rosemary Thomson, music director of the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra.
Handel’s Messiah is renowned as one of the greatest and most popular works of all time. The wonderful quartet of soloists, all with ties to the Okanagan, will perform on stage and join the more than 50 individuals in the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra Chorus along with the professional orchestra musicians.
A collaboration as large as this will fill the stage with enthusiasm in the music. By turns contemplative and glorious, this is a well-loved tradition guaranteed to put you in the Christmas spirit.
“The OSO Chorus has been rehearsing since August and their enthusiasm on stage will be motivation for our audience and have everyone leaving the theatre excited to spend the holidays with friends and family,” said Thomson.
