Spring fashion show benefits Penticton charity

Kick off the spring fashion season by checking out the hottest trends and giving back to a Penticton charity all at the same time.

Kick off the spring fashion season by checking out the hottest trends and giving back to a local cause all at the same time.

On Wednesday Feb. 20, Le Cheap, C'est Chic Clothing is debuting their Spring collection at the Barking Parrot for a fashion show with proceeds from the door entry fee going to the South Okanagan Women In Need Society.

"SOWINS is also an excellent charity for us because it will be women helping women. We really like to show support to it because it is local and a lot of women can relate to it," said Le Cheap, C'est Chic founder Natalie Preston. "We have our new spring collection that has just arrived and it is a great way to kick off the season and get out of the winter doldrums."

The event is co-hosted by Jocelyn Winchester, an independent Stella & Dot stylist. She will be showing her new spring line and will have jewelry available for purchase on site.

"It is going to be awesome. Not only will there be the fashion show but all the clothing will be available for purchase that night right off the rack. So they can take what they see on the runway, purchase it that night and have that instant gratification," said Preston.

The concept of Le Cheap, C'est Chic is affordable clothing, so Preston said everything will be $50 or less. She said that in keeping with the trends of the spring season the audience can expect to see lots of floral prints, denim, lace blouses and tops, maxi dresses, blazers and other hot items.

Local models will have their makeup applied by Home Spa by Tania and hair styled by The Big Tease Hair Salon.

"There will be 13 local models, so many faces people will recognize including Colleen Bachmann and Amberlee Erdmann who is vying to be the face of Bootlegger right now," said Preston.

Entry is $10 at the door (or purchase ahead of time at the Lakeside Resort) and a name will be pulled to be the evening's hostess. The winner will receive five per cent of the evening's sales in free clothing. Another five per cent will be donated to SOWINS.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the fashion show starts at 7:30 p.m. Organizers advise to arrive early for the best seats. On Friday, Feb. 15 a draw will be done for 10 VIP front row seats from those who have RSVP'd via the Facebook guest list.
