Kaleden musician Misty Knol is holding a fundraising concert on July 6 at the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.

A Kaleden musician is hosting Summer Sounds - Flute and Piccolo Concert on Saturday as a fundraiser to attend two summer study programs.

Misty Rose Knol has been accepted into the programs which take place this August in Europe with internationally renowned flute teachers and performers.

Saturday’s concert will feature both flute and piccolo with a variety of music on both instruments from romantic compositions to newer works, including one recently composed for Knol by Vernon composer Glen Goerzen. She will be joined by accompanist Dennis Nordlund. Knol said the selected pieces will show off the many characters and diversity of both instruments from playful to energetic to lyrical, sweet and rich expression.

She recently performed with the Youth Symphony of the Okanagan, Kamloops Symphony, the Okanagan Symphony and the Penticton Community Band. She graduated with honours from the Bachelor of Music program in Flute Performance at the Kings University College in Edmonton. During her time there she studied with the principal flutist for the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, Liz Koch.

Knol will be performing at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. Tickets are $12 at the door.
