Construction is getting underway to expand Penticton's Canadian Tire.

Excavation for the expansion of Penticton's Canadian Tire is currently underway.

The expansion, if it holds to what was presented to Penticton City Council in 2023, will almost double the store's size and add nearly 100 new parking spaces.

The plan would see the retail area increased by 3,500 square metres to a total of 7,770.

The building currently on the property was built in 1996.

The two entryways along the Channel Parkway are currently open and are planned to remain open after the expansion is completed.

City council gave their approval to permit the expansion in July of 2023, with work finally appearing to get underway midway through October of 2024.

It is not clear how long it will take to complete the expansion.
