Penticton Chamber announces winners of Business Excellence Awards

The awards recognized outstanding achievements and community impact

From 60-year legacies to personal impacts that were more brief but profound, the Penticton and Wine Country Chamber of Commerce's annual business Excellence Awards was a showcase of achievements.

The annual awards, presented by Total Restoration, were held at the Penticton Lakeside Resort on Oct. 19, with Bounce Radio's Reagan Babyak hosting the event.

After the dinner, the winners of the 10 categories and the David Kampe Legacy Award were announced, with two sharing close links.

The David Kampe Legacy Award was accepted by the family of Jerome Abraham on his behalf.

Abraham was the executive director of Discovery House, having once been a client of the addiction recovery program, and the face of the organization for many in the community through his constant advocacy and fundraising efforts.

His wife Kassandra and his parents Jerome Abraham Sr. and Margaret Felker accepted the award from Todd and Anona Kampe following a moving tribute from Jerome’s close friend Darrell Richards.

"Jerome’s legacy lives on through his profound impact on the community and his family’s continued dedication to service," said the Chamber.

While Abraham's award was the final one of the evening, 10 businesses and individuals were presented with their own awards.

Discovery House, the organization that Abraham once worked for, was one of the organizations recognized.

A selection committee, comprising 19 local business and community leaders, reviewed each nominee and conducted interviews and thorough assessments before their decision.
