Raise your glass to Penticton by voting in a new competition that looks to settle the score and declare a community as B.C.'s best for beer.
BC Ale Trail has announced the launch of the inaugural Best Beer Community Competition, with public voting set to be open from Sept. 9 to Oct. 6.
The competition is divided into three tiers, based on the number of breweries in each community. Penticton falls into Tier 3.
• Tier 1 - Communities with one to two breweries
• Tier 2 - Communities with three to five breweries
• Tier 3 - Communities with six or more breweries
"This isn’t just about the brews — it’s about the vibrant, spirited communities that bring them to life," a news release reads. "And the best part? British Columbians get to decide who wins."
Winning communities that top each of the three tiers will be featured in exclusive content, social media spotlights, and other province-wide beer campaigns, according to BC Ale Trail.
The winners will be announced in New Westminster on Oct. 18, during an annual gathering of B.C.'s craft beer industry.
Penticton — known today as Canada's craft beer capital — is represented by eight breweries: Barley Mill, Cannery, Tin Whistle, Abandoned Rail, Neighbourhood, Slackwater, Highway 97 and Yellow Dog.
Collectively, they're referred to as the Penticton Beer Blocks.
People can vote here, but the page won't be available for use until voting starts on Sept. 9.
