The first weekend of October has arrived, and there's lots to do and see in Penticton.
Here's what's happening from Oct. 4 to 6:

Penticton Vees home opener (Oct. 4)
Penticton hosts the Alberta-based Okotoks Oilers on Friday night for its home opener.
It marks the Vees' fifth game of the season after the defending Interior Conference champions played the first four games of the regular season on the road.
Tickets can be purchased at the SOEC box office, or on valleyfirsttix.com.
Puck drop is at 7 p.m. at the South Okanagan Events Centre.
The Vees will be in Vernon one night later, on Oct. 5, to battle the Vipers at Kal Tire Place.
Penticton Beer Week (Oct. 4 to 6)
The sixth annual Penticton Beer Week runs until Oct. 14, but all the action kicks off this weekend.
Events are planned across the city at each of Penticton's eight breweries: Barley Mill, Tin Whistle, Cannery, Neighbourhood, Slackwater, Highway 97, Abandoned Rail and Yellow Dog.
Penticton Beer Run (Oct. 5)
Saturday morning marks the Penticton Beer Run, one of the signature events every year during Penticton Beer Week.
Around 500 people are expected to take part in the event, which tasks teams of several people to hit 10 breweries and local eateries during a 10-kilometre run. It will start at Abandoned Rail Brewing along KVR Trail.
There will also be an option for a six-kilometre run and costumes are encouraged.
Along with the aforementioned Penticton-based breweries, Oliver's Firehall Brewery and Summerland's Giant's Head and Detonate will take part in the event.
Folk duo performs at Cannery Brewing (Oct. 6)
Folk duo Borderlines is playing a free-of-admission show at Cannery Brewing on Sunday evening.
Show runs from 5 to 7 p.m.
