Top curlers in town to headline the final weekend of October

The final weekend of October has arrived.

Here's what's happening from Oct. 25 to 28:

Nufloors Penticton Curling Classic (Oct. 25 to 28)

An annual curling event that brings the top men's curlers from across the world returns to Penticton this weekend.

The Nufloors Penticton Curling Classic started Thursday but runs all day from Friday to Monday.

Heading into its eighth year, matches will be played at the Penticton Curling Club at 505 Vees Drive.

Ontario's Scott Howard, a 2012 world championship, won the Penticton event last year.

Final Farmers' Market of 2024 (Oct. 26)

The final edition of the Penticton Farmers' Market in 2024 goes on Saturday morning.

Visit your favourite vendors for the last time year, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the 100-block of Main Street.

The market's 2025 season kicks off in April.

Hallo-Weenie Parade (Oct. 26)

The Penticton Dachshund Club hosts its second annual Hallo-Weenie Parade on Saturday.

Dachshund owners are invited to bring their dogs to the Loco Landing parking lot at 10:30 a.m. for the parade, which will go down Lakeshore Drive and end at Yellow Dog Brewing.

Admission is free, but donations to Critteraid Animal Sanctuary are being accepted.

Penticton Vees return home (Oct. 26)

The Vees return to the South Okanagan Events Centre on Saturday night to host the Vernon Vipers.

Penticton is in Trail on Friday, Oct. 25, before returning home and putting its five-game road trip in the rearview mirror.

Puck drop Saturday is set for 6 p.m. The game will also feature a costume contest for fans, in honour of Halloween.

Penticton's annual pop culture festival (Oct. 26 to 27)

The Penti-Con returns to the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre on Saturday and Sunday.

Pop-culture-themed vendors will be inside the building this weekend and encouraging people to "embrace their weird."

Event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on both days.

Opening of Penticton's newest park (Oct. 26)

Community members are invited to attend the official opening of Penticton's newest park on Saturday afternoon.

City officials say Ridge Park, located on Deer Place in Penticton’s Columbia/Duncan neighbourhood, will feature "panoramic views of the city, a climbing play structure and sport court."

The ceremony is set to run from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Time to gear up for Halloween in Kaleden (Oct. 25 to 28)

The Sagebrush Ranch in Kaleden is back for the final time this month, as it hosts its annual Haunted Halloween Trail.

Bookings are available all weekend.

Spider Alley, Pirates Cove, and Lollipop Lane are among the trails people can expect to visit.

Free show at Cannery Brewing (Oct. 27)

Solo musician Dorian Goodwin plays Cannery Brewing's taproom on Sunday night.

Show runs from 5 to 7 p.m. and is free of admission.
