Bananas have been hung from trees in downtown Penticton on Tuesday morning.

Several business people on Main Street arrived to work to find bananas hanging from white string on branches of trees. There was one in the 500 block outside the Penticton Western News, one in Nanaimo Square and one down in the 300 block of Main.

No one has claimed ownership so it’s not known the motivation of the banana trees. Some have speculated that the bananas were placed as edible Christmas tree decorations or just random shenanigans.

A quick Google search turns up nothing.

The one outside the Western News is being used by a staff member to make banana muffins.

The banana trees definitely made for a lot of curious conversations.
