Road work is currently slowing traffic at the north entrance to Penticton.

It is not clear how long traffic will be down to single lanes at the north entrance to Penticton.

Road crews have removed the barriers and lane dividers on the bridge over the River Channel and along Highway 97, between Riverside Drive and Westminster Avenue.

City spokesperson Katya Irwin said that the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure was leading the project.

A timeline for the work was not immediately provided by MoTI.

The work is expected to close off the turn lane from Highway 97 southbound onto Riverside Drive and extend the southbound turning lane on Westminster Avenue.

Such work has been described in presentations about the North Gateway Plan from the city.
