It's voting day in the Penticton city council by-election

Polls open at Penticton Trade and Convention Centre from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

It's officially general voting day in Penticton's by-election.

Seven candidates are vying for the one city council seat up for grabs to replace MLA Amelia Boultbee.

A total of 1,229 ballots have already been cast, following a two-day advance voting phase at the end of March.

Polls are open on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre. (273 Power St.)

Results are expected to be announced shortly after polls close, according to the city. Check back to the Western News to see the results.

The city will also be presenting the results during a livestream via Zoom at 8 p.m.

All seven candidates took part in a forum on March 13, inside Cleland Theatre.

Curbside voting

Curbside voting is available to those who are unable to enter the polling station. City officials are asking people to read the signage outside the convention centre for more details.
